DESCRIPTION

Allyship is a key component of influencing social change - when done effectively. Effective ally work requires us to acknowledge and leverage our privileges, power and access to amplify individuals with historically underinvested identities; work to understand how our identities may have an impact on others; and embrace transparency and vulnerability of failures as opportunities for growth and humility-building.

This session will provide a space to explore what it means to move through the world with whiteness (especially as it relates to engaging in equity work), challenge ourselves to identify how racism is showing up in our own behavior, and determine a path forward toward anti-racist practice and effective work as a Design Ally.
